Wanted this product to get solid sound quality in a miniscule package.
Speaking of package, I managed to get it out of its packaging in less than ten minutes without any collateral damage -- I feel fortunate for that (a strong pair of kitchen shears is a big help in this regard). Assembly was a matter of moments.
Software loaded flawlessly on Windows 2000 desktop. Had to go to Compaq web site to get W2K driver -- also uneventful. Everything works fine after one reboot.
Sound quality is marvelous. It's hard to imaging MP3's sounding any better. The earphones will see use on lots of other devices.
Belt clip is well-designed and functional, but I find the device just as happy in a pocket -- it's so small that this isn't a problem.
Controls are simple and intuitive. Once around the block and you're in good shape.
The included software is very weak (as is virtually all other "free" included software). WMP 7 is a better choice, and has a future. I recommend just skipping the software altogether.
The memory cover is flimsy, but I don't expect that to be an issue (how often will you take memory out?). The battery cover, which DOES get lots of use, is much better.
It's small, straightforward and simple. It does a good job of providing great listening with little to no overhead. Not much more to say.
