| ludwig215's Full Review: D-link DMP-100 (32 MB) MP3 Player |
So there I was, searching the shelves at Best Buy for an MP3 Player. I'm seeing a Rio for $250, a Sony for $225, and a D-Link for $49.99. I am thinking to myself, what is the difference between these mp3 players? They all have 32 mb of memory. They can all can expand their memory with memory cards. They've all got a voice recorder. Everything seemed to be the same except for the price. So I decided to go with the no-name brand D-Link.
So I get home an am feeling a bit skeptical about this piece of electronics. The clear shell provides a neat look and as I examine it, the player seems to be in one piece.
Setting up the D-Link program on my computer was real easy...Insert the CD and follow the step-by-step directions. In about 3 minutes, the D-Link MP3 Manager was up and running and I was able to download my MP3's onto the player. I fit about 10 songs onto it.
After using it for a few days, I found that there were quite a bit of functions to enhance my experience. The unit featured a built in tunable equalizer for the highest fidelity sound. The screen was surprisingly large when it came to the display. All the standard playback functions worked to perfection. In the box, you'll get everything you need to start listening...a parallel port cable, earphones, batteries, and a pouch for the player. Not bad for $50!
The unit supports 24Kbps - 256Kbps MP3 files and is expandable up to 64MB. Other 32MB MP3 players will allow you to expand to more than that, but it comes at an extra $150 or so.
I would recommend everyone to buy this MP3 player because it is so versatile and easy to use. D-Link offers free support so even if you do get lost, they will get you back on track.
