I got this portable CD player just before Christmas. I had to choose one that would let me run (or really, Jog) with it while at the gym. Although it doesn't come with a belt clip (Do any come with a belt clip? This is my first.) I could run on the treadmill with it, as the earphone cord was longer than my walk man cord.
I was hoping this discman would come in different colors, although the royal blue was quite nice. There was also a purple, but it was a different version, and did didn't come with a car kit.
Main Features:
"40 second anti-shock system" Most of the time this works, especially while running or jogging, but often while driving in the car - even if it's not bumpy - the CD will skip and jump around.
"Bass boost system" I haven't figured out where this feature is, or how to use it. But it says it has a Bass boost system right on the package.
"11 hour playback" I completely disagree with this. Thank goodness for rechargeable batteries. Even with brand new rechargeable batteries, this thing doesn't seem to last an hour.
"Repeat/random play" This is a nice feature if you have CDs that you like every song on. Although, I believe it's frivilous because there is only one CD at a time. It's not like it's a 200 disc CD changer, and it's hard to get to your CD.
Overall, I do like this CD player. It's attractive to look at, it wasn't very expensive (approximately 60 US Dollars) and is durable. Several times I've accidentally left it on the floor, only to have my fiance step on it. So far, it hasn't broken. I haven't had to use their warranty service, but it came with one year of service and labour warranty.
The car kit was easy to use: All you have to do is attach the wire to the cassette tape that they give you and to the CD player. Then hit "Play" and you're ready to go. I was amazed that such a little CD Player could actually put out sound on my car speakers!
The one thing I don't understand is the two "holes" on the side. One is supposed to be for the ear phones, and the other says "Line out" ... Only, they both work for the ear phones.
There is also a "hold" feature. When you slid the button to "hold" any buttons pressed won't register. This is especially good if you keep the CD player in your back pack. You won't waste batteries by the CD player going on every time a button is pressed. Or, if you are jogging with it, you won't change the song if you accidentally press a button.
** Hints! **
1. Double-clicking the stop button shuts the player off immediately.
2. Double-clicking the play button plays a song immediately, without having to choose a track number first.
