| mikedogg195's Full Review: Sony Walkman MZ-R900DPC Personal MiniDisc Player |
I was in the market for an mp3 player. i have some 1000 songs on my computer and i wanted to put them on some portable device. i was almost gonna pay $500 for an mp3 jukebox, but then the thought of a mini disc player crossed my mind...so for about half the price, i took the gamble. it's funny how the original purpose of my new purchase would be for my mp3s. with an mini disc player as such, i can record off of anything! friends' cds, the radio, my stereo system...anything. this is so beautiful. the sound quality is perfect (unlike copies that are duller than the originals). Now i can mix and match all types of my music on these little discs that are about 4" X 4"....about the same size as the mini disc player/recorder itself! mp3 player owners claim that it is a hassle to handle mini discs. they can talk all they want because i'm fine with the disks.
physical description:
silver, or blue, in my case. approximately 8 oz of pure music madness. takes one AA battery. comes with a rechargeable battery that charges up with the use of included adapter. 17 hours of playing time. inlcluded are : pc link so you can record anything off your computer (including .wav, .mp3, .mp2, and .midi files). 9 V adapter, easy to follow direction book, headphones, mini disc player/recorder. link to record off a stereo system.
cost:
my estimate: $245. you can probably get a good deal online for around $200.<br>
how has my life changed since my purchase?
haha, it's pretty cool. i take my player with me everywhere..on the train, in the car (yes! with a portable cd player car kit, you can use this in your car!), and even at work. This baby is beautiful because i can just jam it in my pocket and I'm on my way. each disk has about 74 minutes of playing time so i can grab a disk and be good for the day. i can't believe i was using a huge cd player. Ever go into a jacuzzi and jump into the main pool and feel the huge temperature difference (or so it seems?)???. Yes, that was an analogy. This similarity is found with the mini disc player and other music playing devices. PLUS this is completely anti-skip!!! My advice : once you go with the MD, you don't go back. Man, i'm spoiled.
