Pros: Cheap, reliable, excellent battery life, good sound, no skipping whatsoever.
Cons: doesn't come with a modem (kidding)Like most CD players headphone is poor.
The Bottom Line: If you are looking just for a CD player and want it to be good, that's it. Mine has lasted 3 years of use and abuse.

| brunildu's Full Review: Panasonic SL-SX270 Personal CD Player |
Even though I am starting to hate Panasonic brand, I could not allow my Bias to take over me on writing this review, this is a great player.
I bought this model when it had just come out, perhaps 3 years ago, but I am not 100% sure.
Tip: before you buy a CD player: see if the store has on display, bring your own batteries and headphones + CD
and test for anti skip by shaking really hard, saves you from frustration and extra work.
Most of the CD Players come with lousy headphones and this is not an exception, but of course we all know that.
I paid $100 for mine, now is $50 which is quite a bargain because this thing is good. For the fact I have it for a quite few years and used and abused, I would dare to say that the long run performance is very promising.
I read some people saying it does not have FM. DUH! so why buy if you wanted FM as well.
Unless you buy a very good headphone you won't know how good the sound is for a small device the size of your hand powered by 2 AAA Batteries.
Could be smaller but I have seen bigger and thicker for an old model it is not half bad.
Anti Skip
Anti skip is great 100% reliable, just don't forget to press the button "A.Shock" or you don't get anti Skip
I run and I work out with this player not a problem with skipping, I probably dropped it on hard floor about 100 times, it has some scratches but no damages.
Battery life
I use Heavy Duty rechargeable batteries (made for Digital cameras and power hungry electronic devices), for some reason seems to last longer than the best non rechargeable batteries, and don't forget it is less damaging to the environment, but if you are a hard core Republican it is more likely that would make not a difference .
It uses two AAA batteries, the ones I use you just put in there and forget about.......This week I used for about 15 hours and still no sign of batteries weakness.
LCD:
Is simple and has no lights, need light to see it. but what do you expect for $50? the major buttons skip, stop, play, back are very visible and not hard to work with if it is in your pocket, the smaller ones like "memory, recall, eq, A. Shock" you must see them visually to work with, but the tendency is not to use them very often.
On the side there are a few extra option, much harder to see though:
Hold: The greatest, if you put on hold you can have the CD player in your pocket and not worry about hitting a button by mistake, if you hit any button when is on hold nothing happens, you won't turn it off or skip songs by accident.
Volume: is quite close to the headphone slot, which makes easier to spot with your hands when not in site..
there is also Random: plays songs on Random
It is somewhat of inconvenience when you get fancy and want to stick your hand in your pocked and skip songs, pause, stop, play etc.... If you are in an couch seat in an airplane, it is a good idea to keep it on your lap or you might elbow the person seating on your side, it takes some effort to work with when it is in a pouch or case.
Also runs on DC (needs converter) and AC power, I think there is an identical model extra $10,that comes with car kit you can play in your car's FM stereo, I did not buy it because at the time I could not find one, but I tested on one display and it is just as good.I got a kit and now I use it on my second car that doesn't have a CD player, performs just as well in the car, no skipping.
Another advantage of this player: It plays with no difficult the cheap CDs you burn in your computer (CDR) I don't think it plays CDR-W, but let's no go too far with expectations, this is not a computer just a simple CD player, even if CD is full of scratches (like my CDs) it plays with no major effort. Other CD players I had would refuse CDR and scratched CDs.
Be ready to buy a headphone.
I got an Aiwa Headphone (model HP-CN5 )and recommend to anyone, I used in the car, airplane, streets, grocery, it has noise cancellation, and it works, just make loud enough.
bigger than average, but it folds avoids breakage, if you don't mind those Arc on your head, I recommend, I may write a review on it in case you are interested.
I bought open box $29, but reg price is $49 + all the taxes, but it is great Ihave the perfect mobile sound system that you can carry in your pocket for under $100.
