I received this as a Christmas present to replace my broken Sony. This player was on my wish list and the reason why was because of the other great reviews on this web site and others like it.
The sound of this player is excellent. When I first plugged my headphones in, I was just amazed by the clarity.
There are 4 different preset equalizer options. There is the extra bass which is only good if you prefer rap or other types of music that require a big boomy sound. Otherwise this setting is extra stupid. There is the train setting that is really horrible and makes the sound not so good. I do not know what "train" stands for but I do know that it ruins the sound. There is the live setting that is also horrible and does not sound good at all. And then there is the normal setting. The normal setting is the best setting and is the one that I recommend. It is just perfect for all types of music and you can't go wrong with it.
The color of this player is also great. I chose the ct-470A where the color is a blue instead of a silver. The blue just makes this player all the better as it is just a joy to look at.
Although other reviews have said that you should throw away the headphones that come with it, I have to say that these are the best sounding free headphones that come with a portable player that I have heard. They are not distortion masters like other brand free headphones. They also don't look that bad. Sure they don't sound as good as other headphones that I own, but this overall package would be a great present for a teenager or someone else who does not own an after market pair of headphones.
This player is also very thin and light. It comes with an external battery case that holds 2 double A batteries to extend the length of battery life without sacrificing sound quality. The triple A batteries that go into the player are also rechargeable with the plug that goes into the outlet in your wall. another great feature.
My only regrets is that this player doesn't come with a remote, but hey, you can't have everything in life perfect.
Overall, I give this 5 stars!
