| angelini's Full Review: Panasonic ShockWave SL-SW860 Personal CD Player |
Once again suckered at a Boxing Day sale! My last JVC Discman had gone down the drain, well almost. It would skip all the time, I could barely move a muscle without it skipping, but it was old so hey. Anyway, I thought I would use Boxing Day to my advantage this year and buy myself a worthwhile Christmas Present!
When I got to A&B Sound the place was packed wall to wall, you'd move an inch maybe every 5 minutes. It was absolutely crazy, it made me question why I was even in there, but unlike all those grumpy Boxing Day shoppers I put on my smile and carried on. The lady at the counter was extremely helpful, even under the circumstances, and didn't suggest the model that I would have to mortgage my house for.
I told her about my lifestyle. I am a very active person, I walk everywhere, I play sports whenever I can, I run, I ski/snowboard, and I want a Discman that can go with me everywhere. So this is what she suggested, the Panasonic SL- SW860 . She said she personally had on and is an avid snowboarder and brought it with her down the slopes every time! So hey, I took her word for it. Panasonic gives you a one year warranty with this lil' bugger, not to mention I bought a couple years on top of that with ALB Sound, so I'm set, if something goes wrong I'm bringing it right back to where it came from.
If you want to be impressed, this is the Discman for you! The whole thing blew me away. First off, one of my best friend's Neil always bugs me about being suckered by things that are aesthetically pleasing to the eye. I love eye candies. That's the main reason why I bought my cell phone and when you look at this Discman your eyes widen and you go "wow!". I love those sorts of things. Panasonic didn't use this to their advantage and sell it on just the look though; they sold it on the whole thing. The exterior is one nice bonus.
So lets get into a breakdown of all the things that this Discman can do for its user....
1.It is Durable *Aluminium Protector (I've dropped it many times trust me)
2. Its water-resistant (good for us runners)
3. One touch locking system, and release (It really locks well!)
4. S-XBS The extra base system is awesome
5. It extends battery life to 25 hours of listening (Amazing!)
6. Has an "A shock" button, which doesn't let anything shock it!
7. Memory and recall
8. 40 seconds antishock
9. A hold button
10. Wall adapter
11. Resume and Random options
12. Rubber grip handle that adjusts to your hand, great for outdoors.
Now before I sound like I am doing a TV ad for these people I am going to tell you, I was not happy with the earphones at all . They were so uncomfortable and the sound on them is awful. Once I changed headphones I realized that its not the Discmans sound its the phones.
Next time Panasonic , don't give us an awesome Discman and then try and get us to settle for these awful-I threw in the garbage, headphones
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=CONCLUSION -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
This is the best Discman I have EVER owned, I recommend it to ANYONE wanting quality and their Discman, and the look to match. Way to go Panasonic, you did great!
