Pros: bomb-proof, great sound, easy to use, long battery life, joggable, handstrap
Cons: no backlight on display, headphones, battery compartment on inside, random/normal/resume switch on inside
The Bottom Line: Excellent cd player. It will last a lifetime, and then some. The pros far outweigh the cons.

| maui_nick's Full Review: Panasonic ShockWave SL-SW880 Personal CD Player |
Specs:
- 40 sec. antishock
- Aluminum and plastic outer shell
- Rubber gasket around inside of lid for water resistance
- Rubber dust caps for external ports
- Programmable memory for playlists
- 3 equalizer modes
- Handstrap for jogging
This player will take a beating if you want to give it one. If you go out jogging and someone attacks you, you can use it instead of your fists. The outer shell consists mostly of aluminum with some plastic as a filler. The antishock is excellent, I have been jogging with mine many times and there is absolutely no skip. It even has a removable handstrap to make it easier to hold. It conserves battery power extremely well, lasting over 24 hrs. WITH the antishock on. My only complaints were that the battery compartment was located on the inside of the cover, making it somewhat difficult to change them. Also, the resume/normal/random switch was located on the inside of the cover, underneath the cd. This player will also read burned cdrs in cd audio or wave audio format.
The headbanger headphones that this particular model came with, are a very different twist. When the equalizer is switched to VMSS, or, virtual motion sound system, the headphones make low frequencies vibrate against your head. But that and a built in remote control did not make up for the fact that the headphones were rather uncomfortable to wear and a little goofy looking. I believe that you can get the same model with regular earbuds. The sound also lacks a little. On some high frequencies, it tended to buzz.
I found mine at Frye's electronics, outpost.com, for about 90 bucks, which wasn't bad considering that at the time I bought it, it was running around $120.
