| blacksheep's Full Review: Philips eXpanium EXP103 Personal CD Player |
I bought a Philips Expanium about a month ago, and it has proved to be worth every penny. In deciding between a CD/MP3 player or an MP3 player, the choice was clear. Why would I want to spend just as much on a player which, although it might be a little smaller, only provides an hour of music?
I am going to a foreign country for the next half year, and I thought this would be useful both to play mp3 cds and normal cds. It works wonderfully for both. I chose Philips because it is a known brand, you can buy it retail at circut city (rather than on the net - made me feel more secure), and I had heard it was good. I had spoken to friends who had ordered another brand player from the internet and had recieved a faulty player, then the company never sent a replacement.
One downfall is that the Expanium does not give song titles. This is not much of a problem for me, I just put the MP3s in folders by album or artist, and make a list of what albums are on the cd. after all, CD players didn't give you song titles either!
This player has been great with playing any CD I happen to put in. I have not had problems due to different quality mp3s, etc. You can even put non-mp3 files on for use on the computer, and the player just skips them over.
THe batteries seem to last longer than they do on my discman, and the player has NEVER skipped!
