| vandalz's Full Review: RCA RP2375 Personal CD Player |
Standing in a local electronics store, I noticed a great looking display rack. Intrigued by the display, I went over to look at what was on it. To my suprize, it was Portable CD Players. Now I had a PCDP (Portable CD Player), but it was old, and wasn't always performing up to par. ( I was playing it while I practiced on the drums. )
So I decided I would at least look at the different ones, and see which one I liked the most. I looked at a lot of different styles, but mainly the Aiwa's, Sony's, and RCA's. I listened to each of the players and liked most of them, but I really liked the RCA section.
The Test
I decided that I would put the RCA brand to the test. I first started by playing the PDCP as if I were actually playing the drums. It performed flawlessly without any skipping.
The next step was to accidentally drop the player to see how well it would hold up. ( You would think that this would be unacceptable by the store, but it wasn't! ) I dropped it from a height of 4 feet approximately. The PDCP never missed a beat. ( Due to the 45-Sec ESPX (Electronic Skip Protection )).
After that I decided the ultimate test. I opened the PDCP while it was still playing a CD. You would expect the sound to stop right then, right? Nope, it kept on playing for 45 seconds. How's that for performance. I consider that pretty good, considering you may accidentally open the playing while running, or just listening to it.
What are my thoughts on the player
I have come across a lot of PCDP's and my overall experience with them has been good, except for a few of the lower name brands. (I.E. KLH, and the like).
I really do like how this PDCP performs. Also, this PDCP had a great quality of sound, as long as you didn't feel like turning the PCDP all the way up. ( Plus, turning up the PCDP all the way up can damage your hearing - Anything above 80 db for an extended period of time can damage your hearing, and most play around 91 db ).
The battery life on the PCDP was also very good. It lasted almost 5 hours on only 2 hours, with all the features on. This included 45-Second ESPX, Bass Boost, Random, and Volume almost all the way up.
Were there any Cons?
Yes, but only one that I could really say. The headphones were kind of cheap, but they did produce decent sound. If you wanted the best quality sound, you would need to go out and buy a better set of headphones.
