Pros: great sound, cheap media, internal recharge, can use as a recorder, limited PDA fuctions
Cons: another iomega based "clik of death" toy. As big as a digital camera.
The Bottom Line: A good alternative to the hipzip if you can forget it's based on an iomega design...

| gouf's Full Review: Rio Rave MP2300 (40 MB) MP3 Player |
Well, I got this little pup back in 4/01. Pretty nice player with followings item that I like.
1. It actually works like a very limited PDA. - you can store phone numbers and have a calendar and world time.
2. it's a portable drive
3. Sound quality is high.
with all those different fuctions it had.. I choose this player over the hipzip (I had a hipzip as well.)
However, the fact that the technology is based on iomega will give you something to think about. The infamous "click of death" drive became the evil whirling sound this thing makes regularity. Also, The clik disks themselves are a bit on the "delicate side". My player currently is in the shop because it actually stopped working after the drive ate one of the clik I had inserted.
Also, this thing doesn't have a radio build it.. but if you use this player like I do (at work and while driving) you don't really need a radio. (but it would be nice :D )
But to be honest, this player had an extremely good sound output. So I think is a pretty good trade off.
I also thinks mine was also a lemon from the get go. But heck, If I had the money, I will get another one of these then my sorry hipzip or that Rio500 I had (paid over 200 new)... I recently dump that rio500 into the garbage can. (that's for another review)
