My Sony D-E200 is a wonder portable CD player that I bought to replace my sub-par Phillips one that broke not too long ago. It costs me $49.99 at Circuit City.
It only comes with headphones and no A/C adapter. However, it uses a standard 4.5V AC adapter, which is what most CD players use, so I was able to use my adapter from my old CD player. This unit also uses batteries, but I have never tried them. I mostly just listen to CD's when I'm laying in bed at night.
The included headphones are very good and lightweight. They fit comfortably over your ears and after a while, you will forget that they are even there.
The sound quality is excellent, and features a bass boost switch that really makes a lot of difference in the quality of sound.
The player itself features the standard portable CD player buttons - play, pause, stop, volume, and a menu for random tracks, continuous play, etc. On this unit, the volume control is digital, so you don't have a knob to quickly turn up and down. You just press and hold a button for either up or down. It works the same way for skipping or fast forwarding tracks.
The only thing I don't much like about this player is that every time you press the skip track button, you will hear a beep over the headphones. It isn't very loud, but it is just plain annoying. I don't need a beep to tell me that I've just skipped to another track! I'm smart enough to figure out that when one song stops and another starts - I must be on a new track. DUH!!
Even so, for the quality of sound and the value of Sony, 50 bucks is not bad for a portable player such as this.
