| PhilliesGirl's Full Review: Sony Walkman D-EJ616CK Personal CD Player |
When I first saw this CD player in the store (K-Mart), I saw that it was the most expensive, but how good was the quality? I mentioned it to Santa Claus, and for Christmas 2000 I received the Sony D-EJ616CK portable CD player.
After spending about 10 minutes trying to open the package, I removed it. I put in two AA batteries, plugged in the headphones, and placed my R.E.M. Eponymous cd into the player. I pressed play, and was VERY surprised.
The D-EJ616CK has the normal play/pause, stop, forward, and back track like most players. It also has a three different play modes: 1, which is to play a single track, SHUF, which is to shuffle the tracks at random, and PGM, to program a playing order for your favorite tracks. There is also a repeat button to let you continuously listen to a cd.
Other features on this CD player include G-PROTECTION, which helps to eliminate skipping by having a better shock protection than others. AVLS is an option the user can set to protect their hearing. When AVLS is on, the volume can go up to 3 with 2 sublevels, without it on, 9 with 3 sublevels. Also can be set is bass, either on none, one, or two sublevels.
This CD player also came with a carry case with handstrap, perfect for jogging and for overall convenience. When an AC adapter or car cigarette lighter battery cord is plugged into the player, the LCD lights up in a cool aqua color. A cassette tape adapter is also included. When I tried playing my CD player in an old truck with an average stereo, it had great sound. You also get headphones with this CD player, but someone stepped on them and broke them. (They had great sound for being a "cheap" pair that came with the player!) I bought Sony MDR-A101 headphones that fold up, and they also sound great.
This is definitely the best portable CD player I ever tried. It's sleek silver in color, with an LCD. (Note: It does not light up when using batteries.) The only time it stopped playing on me was when I dropped it on the floor and the CD popped off of the spinner thing. I think Santa did a good job reading my list this year. :-)
