| alseltzer's Full Review: Sony Walkman D-F415 Personal CD Player |
First let me tell you that i had four different cd players so far: A Panasonic, Lennox, Aiwa and Kenwood. Lennox and Panasonic players were stolen when i was on a skiing trip. Aiwa was crunched when it fell off my bike three year ago, and Kenwood stopped working one day, for no apparent reason, i went to a mechanic and he told me that he'll have to disassemble it and would cost me some money. So that's the previous history. Now let's talk about my new cd player- Sony Discman ESP2 D-F415.
If i'm not mistaken this cd player was rated the best deal in Consumer Reports for 1999, so it is pretty good. Here are all the bonuses and options of this cd player:
1.EsP2 -electronic shock protection-kinda like anti-skip memory but better.
2.Two levels of bass- regular bass, and Groove-very exxagerated bass.
3.Digital Built-in Radio- 4 FM waves + AM, 15 presets for AM, and for FM
4.Remote Control-built in remote in the headphone's wire. Very useful in the rain, you can hide your cd player under the jacket so it won't get wet, but you can expose the wire with the remote.
5.Rechargeable battery-charges for two hours then works for two hours, no need for batteries.
6. Auto Volume Limiter System-if it's on then your volume won't get very high because it's bad for your ears.
Buttons and Switches.
1.Esp-you can turn it on and off- because it eats up your battery.
2.Sound-regulates bass and Groove
3.Radio-turns on radio.
4.Tuning-+-tunes your radio.
5.Play, Pause, Back, Forward, Stop, Volume, Open.
6.Hold-turns off all the switches, so that you won't accidently press anything.
7.Resume-starts playing the cd, from the point where you stopped it.
8.DX/Local-you can try to make the radio work better, if you try those switches.
You can also program this cd player to play the tracks you want in the order that you want.
Regular Battery would last for about 5-6 hours depending on the functions you'll use.
D-F415 comes with:
AC Adapter
Rechargeable Battery
Headphones with built in Remote Control
!! NO CAR ADAPTER !!- that's probably the only minus.
I paid $150 for mine in 1999, so now it's probably down.
Overall i'm very pleased with my cd player, it is the best i had. It's loaded with different functions, some of them i don't even use. Sound quality is great, compared to all the others i had- it is better. So, i have nothing bad to say about this cd player, i would recommend it for anyone who enjoys great audio equipment. So, if the price isn't over your cap then go ahead and get it. You won't be disappointed.
P.S Once it stopped working, but all i had to do was blow slightly on the lens, and it worked fine ever since.
