ccn158's Full Review: Sony Walkman MZ-E60 Personal MiniDisc Player
The Sony MZ-E 60 is a good entry level player if you've got a hi-fi that already has Minidisc facilities, or if you're just broke and cannot afford a fully-recording version. In either case, this model provides good performance for a very decent price.
Here's the features that you get with your MZE-60:
-40 second shock resistant memory
-Stylish blue stick controller
-Several play modes
-Monoaural function
And here's what I think are the main selling points of this model:
Shock resistant memory: The shock resistant memory is excellent and very rarely jumps or skips even if you are on the most uncomfortable bus journey in the world.
Blue stick controller: The controller is very comfortable to use and has been expertly designed to fit into your hand. I found that accessing all the functions was very easy indeed.
Automatic Volume Limiter (AVL): This feature limits the volume and cuts out damaging frequencies of noise so your ears are safer, and you reduce the risk of giving yourself the potentially dangerous tinnitus.
Monaural mode: By using the Mono mode you can handily double the length of your Minidisc, but be warned as this results in a loss of sound quality.
But the biggest advantage this has is it's excellent sound quality. It's very clear and clean and the headphones are top notch. The battery life is excellent and will last you ages on a single charge. And it's cheap!
The only downside with this is that there is no recording function. But for the money you're paying, what do you expect?
