| dwj100's Full Review: Sony Network Walkman NW-E3 (64 MB) MP3 Player |
I recently bought the Sony NW-E3. I was in two minds about it, after reading all of the opinions on this web site saying that loads of people had problems with the software, etc. However, even after reading all of the negative comments I decided to go ahead and buy it, simply because it looks GREAT!
My first worry when I got it home was- will the software work on my computer, considering I had a self installed Windows Me Gateway, with a measley 166Mhz proc- Completely not what the box specifically says it needs! Anyway, the software installed very smoothly, and relativly quickly, even on my computer.
Once this was installed I went on to use the software. The converting of the tracks to the new format was very easy, but quite slow, about 2 and a half mins per song, (that's probably just my computer though).
Then I went to transfer the songs from my comp to the player. I couldn't belive how fast it was, about 10 seconds per song!
It was then the time I had been waiting for, listening to the music. I plugged in the provided headphones and pressed Play. After having a minidisk before this I have high expectations, so when I heard the music for the first time, I was VERY dissapointed, ribbish bass, and very quiet sound. I then thought about trying my headphones that I had bought for £35 from Sony, these were the MDR-EX70 LP, (available from most Sony shops). The sound was excellent, much better than my Sony MZ-R70 minidisk. Rich bass, and quite a high volume with AVLS off.
The only thing i was dissapointed with this beautiful piece of machinery was the lenghth of battery time. After 2 hours of listening to music there was only two of the five bars left, but this wasn't such a bigga deal, as batterys arn't that expensive, especially when you compare it to the amount of heads you will turn, with people looking at your new VERY COOL toy!!
