| cgoudy's Full Review: Aiwa CDC-MP3 Car CD Player |
I bought this in dash Mp3 player the moment I found out it existed. I always new they would come out with this technology and they finally did. I've had mine for around a year now and I like it. After installing it I immediately noticed my factory speakers sounded a lot better. I have since replaced them with Pioneer 6X9's and they sound even better. This deck can power speakers.
The Mp3 thing is awesome. I put a different CD in my car about once every two months or more.
Originally I organized my entire music collection and made a neat little book that told the passenger what disc and what directory/what song each song was on. It was pretty nice. And It's still in my car, but I rarely use that method. The reason I stopped is because it wasn't convienient for me to find songs. So now the way I go about it is I go to my CD burning software and I sift through my files and just start adding songs in. I have over 1100 songs on my computer so I just put ones I really feel like hearing at the time. Eventually I fill up a CD, stick it in the ol' Mp3 player and then I start hitting Random anytime I want to change the song. This method makes it hard for me to play exact songs I want to hear, but I just hit random until I like the song it picks for me (I made the CD, so I usually like the songs.). I find that I start to memorize song numbers after a few months. Like 87 is Oleander - Are You There on the CD in my CDC-Mp3 right now. Also, sometimes I put rap songs into a directory. That way if I want to hear rap, I go into rap folder, etc. I enjoy this method, and if you have one of these you will probably come up with your own.
Another good thing about the player is it's looks, it's flashy and attractive. The display is very colorful and every girl who has ever looked at it has commented on how 'pretty' it is. But it's pretty in a manly sort of way. I guess.
The player does have some drawbacks that will probably be ironed out in the future. One of them is it's inability to remember where you were at in a song when you turn the car off. That may not seem like much but it gets to me. If you make a lot of stops you keep hearing the beginning of the song. I have noticed that scratched CD's don't play real well, and that probably goes for most car receivers so I won't complain to much about that. It does not start the song over when the CD skips. I was skeptical about that, but it holds it's place quite nicely.
My overall recommendation is that if you want Mp3 technology in your car and you don't like to carry around a lot of CD's then this is the way to go.
