Pros: awesome sound. plays around 10 hours of music per cd!!
Cons: SKIPS A LOT! long access time. no pause in mp3 mode. bad random mode.
The Bottom Line: WAIT THIS ONE OUT UNTIL THEY FIX THE BUGS! you can still burn mp3's onto cdr's and play them on a much cheaper, better cd player.

| elvisdechico's Full Review: Aiwa CDC-MP3 Car CD Player |
i bought my cdc-mp3 when it was the newest thing around. it was backordered from crutchfield for months.
installing it was a breeze. any 10-year-old could do it. so long as you have the proper tools (screwdriver and patience).
the sound is quite amazing. it has standard adjustments (bass, treble, balance, fade) as well as three levels of "h-bass." the best sound out of my speakers was to have the h-bass at 3, the bass around 0-3 and the treble at 7.
regular cd's start up quickly and will resume exactly where you left off when you turned off the car. however, it is VERY prone to skipping. in my car (2000 toyota echo, pretty smooth ride actually!), the cd would skip for ANY MINOR BUMP. and it would completely choke over railroad tracks and potholes (sometimes taking up to 5 seconds to restart).
mp3 playback is pretty sweet. i carry my entire collection of 100+ cd's in a little cd carrying case (and i have room to spare). you really have to be organized for the navigation to make sense. have very strict and precies directory structure (ie. root folder\artist\album) and name tracks with a number in front corresponding to the track number!!!! (ie. "01 - burnout.mp3", "02 - chump.mp3"... don't worry about spaces or weird characters... if windows can handle it, so can this unit!) when you use a good directory structure and naming convenction, it will really make it easy to navigate. ONE MAJOR FLAW is the fact that when you turn off the cd player when you're in mp3 mode, when you start the car again IT REWINDS THE CURRENT TRACK. super annoying. you'd think they could figure out a way to start it where you left off!
access time will vary on your directory structure and how many songs there are on the cd. it will also vary with luck... seriously. sometimes, i would put a cd in and it would start playing in about 6 seconds. other times, it would take almost a minute... ON THE SAME CD! i don't get it.
the random mode for regular cd's is fine. for mp3 mode, it's kinda dumb. it will only randomize within a folder. so, your dream of randomly playing 150 tracks is gone (unless you put all your tracks in one folder... WHICH IS HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED).
the display is SUPER TOUGH to get used to. it flips down and pulls out at an akward angle. be prepared to get frustrated at it. also, my display started malfunctioning within 4 months since i started using. i got it serviced but it didn't help. it's been over a year since i got it (so, my warranty's gone) and the damn thing is completely gone. it will play cd's (even mp3 cd's), but it won't let me control anything except volume. i'm not sure if anyone has had this problem besides me.
