If you think a radar detective is going to save you from getting tickets, you are wrong. The BEL radar detector works effectively. Whenever it goes off, it will give you about 1 mile or so notice. It rarely goes off on false alarms. One thing I find annoying is when I use my cellphone, it sometimes will interfere with it.
One nice feature is that it has a slient feature. When it detects radar waves...it will beep once and then it will make a clicking sound, the stronger the reading, the faster it clicks so you won't hear beep beep beep beep beep all day long.
You have to drive smart to use this product. You can't just speed everywhere just because you have a radar detector. You have to slow down if you are alone on the freeway becasuse cops have no other cars to target and can do instant-on to your car. One way this radar dectector is effective is when you are driving on a freeway with several cars ahead and you are speeding, when the cop is reading the speed to the cars in front, the radar signal will bounce off and your detector will pick it up, that's when you slow down.
I have been using BEL detectors since early 90s and I haven't gotten a speeding ticket yet. This detector really works.
Drive safely.....and drive fast....
