This is a four-piece unit to give you the best radar detection possible.
First you have the Control Panel that can be mounted in-dash, under dash or anywhere else you may wish to mount it. The Control Panel does not have to be mounted where it can be seen from the outside.
The second piece is a remote radar antenna that is mounted in the front radiator or any inlet in the front of your car or truck.
Then you get two laser sensors, one for the front and the other for the back. They can be mounted behind your rearview mirror or directly by the windshield. Even if you can see these sensors, they do not look like radar detectors.
Included with the four pieces are the remote radar antenna mounting bracket, an under dash mounting bracket and an in-dash mounting bracket. You also get windshield mounts for the laser modules, hook & loop fastener, reflector, quick-disconnect cable and the owner’s manual.
What it Detects
X Band at 10.525 GHz was the first to be used by the police, it is not used as much today, but there are some out there using it.
K band at 24.150 GHz came out around 1976, which was an improvement over the X band.
Super Wideband Ka band at 34.3 GHz - 35.2 GHz came out around 1987 and was even a bigger improvement.
Laser band was introduced sometime in the 1990’s. With laser the police can target vehicles more accurate and wait to turn the gun on until they are ready to target the vehicle.
SWS signals is made for work crews or emergency vehicles that have the transmitters, to let you know to slow down, work construction ahead or an emergency vehicle is close by.
Some Other Features
Safety Warning System
X/K/Ka Band On/Off
1-Year Warranty

Full Bright/Dim/Dark Settings
Automatic/Manual muting of audio alerts
Memory Retention
Tutorial Mode
Instant-On/Pulsed Radar Warning
Loss of Connection Alert is provided when control panel and Radar antenna are not properly connected
Low Voltage Warning is provided if power falls below 10.5 volts
Software Upgradeable
Bel is the first to offer Advanced Protection SystemTM with Shadow Technology II, this incorporates the use of Flash Microcontroller technology in a Radar/Laser Detector.
What this breaks down to is, if some or all of the functions in radar detections change, then there is a good possibility that your present radar detector can be upgraded with software.
VG-2
VG-2 is a technology that will block the police from detecting that you have a radar detector. Bel offers a second generation on this called Shadow Technology II to give you the best protection of being spotted by the police.
Auto Calibration
That means it will stay tuned to the precise and accurate frequencies of all the bands
Digital PLL Synthesized Oscillator
The Digital PLL Synthesized Oscillator delivers the ultimate in frequency accuracy and low noise oscillator performance under any operating conditions.
FMT (Fundamental Mixer Technology)
This delivers 4 times the K band sensitivity and 15 times the Ka band sensitivity than most of the competition.
IRT (Image Rejection Technology)
This provides the best detection under the most sensitive conditions in the X, K & Super Wideband Ka Radar detection.
Advanced Auto Correlation Noise Discrimination System
This is for the laser detection to give you an earlier warning. Lasers usually have a beam about 6 feet wide and this system detects it as if it was even wider.
Overall
This system lists for about $400 and can be found from $279 to $349 if you shop around. You will pay $200 to $300 for any good radar detector, those under $100 are usually not much.
Installing it yourself isn’t that hard but it will take you about an hour or so to do it.
The beauty of this radar detector system is, it is hidden. Even the two laser sensors if you can see them have no lights that come on or blink, so it is not eye catching.
The control panel or system is mounted in or under your dash where no one can see it while you are driving. The remote radar antenna is what picks up all the bands except the laser and it is hidden in the grill or somewhere in the front out of site. The two laser sensors, I would mount behind your rearview mirror and the other one right by the third brake light on the rear windshield.
The system works great, in the city, I do recommend setting it on the city mode or it will give you some false readings. I have never seen the laser part come on, this may be due to there are none in my area. Last report I have was that there are a little over 1000 in the US using the laser, so that is not many at all.
I highly recommend the BEL 915-R Vector LR Remote Radar Detector!
