Pros: $230 at etronics.com.
->Rarely falses when X band is turned off.
Cons: ->No external display for steering console like Passport 8500.
The Bottom Line: Spend the money on this detector, better than having you're insurance go up.
->Like being able to Dim at night.
->Nice seeing the band (and hearing).

| uconn411's Full Review: Beltronics BEL 980 Radar Detector |
Well, like many others, I considered the Passport 8500 and V1. I felt this was a good value between the two. It has saved me on numerous occasions. I don't mean BS occasions, I mean seeing actual cops flying by me to get someone else. I start listening to the detector when it reaches about 3 in intensity (goes up to 9). Having a Nissan Maxima and this detector is a great combo. If you can, mount the detector on top of your rear view mirror with velcro. Run a power wire to it (I just tapped my auto dimming rear view mirror). Clean install, and its hard to see. The front window tint does NOT interfere with it, at least on a Maxima. Just remember to look at your rear view once in awhile, cops can trail you w/o using a detector...
