spaceacealpha's Full Review: Escort Passport 7500 Radar Detector
I got this 7500 instead of the V1 and I'm glad I did! Not only has it saved my end from the law but it saved me a couple of hundred at the store! I've had other RD's but none have been as accurate and fun to use as this one. It has a ton of user programmable features like sound, tone, sensitivity, and things that aren't even widely used yet making this model future compatible.
It features the SWS system. I don't think the V1 has that. Its a warning system for things like trains, road hazards, emergency vehicles, slow traffic, and about a 100 other warnings. I'm in a rural area but it has sometimes picked up the train that passes. The LCD reads "TRAIN NEAR" Cool, huh?
The biggest part is, of course, the radar detection. I found it to be extremely accurate with cops ahead or behind. I swear the cops around here are working hard for easy prey as they hide well. Thanks to this 7500 not only has it spotted those unseen cops, it has also snapped me out of that "Dreamstate" you get into on long straight roads in well enough time to slow down and wave "HI!"
Assessorywise, it comes with a very well made windshield mount (one click removal for hiding unit) and curiously, a phonejack style plug for the DCV in. I theorize that in the future you call up an Escort phone and on another jack have the unit plugged up. After an automated Escort answering machine sets up, you hang up your phone and a new program gets downloaded into the unit. A theory anyway. It has been done rarely on other new products like that picture frame.
