Pros: Gives you a very long warning, good display and compass
Cons: Voice too quiet, false alarms
The Bottom Line: This is a very good detector, but since the voice warnings are too quiet to hear I suggest the LDR767 instead

| wootenins's Full Review: Uniden LRD777 Radar Detector |
I bought this radar detector a few months ago. I must admit that its looks had some influence on my purchase. It looks more like decoration on my dash than a radar detector. I could also tell that the display was large and easy to read in the store, and it said it detected virtually everything known to man. All of that combined with a low price made buy the LRD777 as soon as my awful Cobra detector broke.
So far, the radar detector has performed fairly well. I am amazed by the long warning time it gives you. I have detected cops long before I ever saw them on many occations. The radar band and signal strength are easy to read, and the compass works well too.
The drawbacks to the LDR777 are few but significant. False alarms are frequent but tollerable if in city mode. The most annoying problem, however is the high pitched scream it makes when turned on. If you set the volume low enough so that the beep doesn't blow your ears out, then you can no longer hear the voice that tells you various information. Because of this, I would suggest the LDR767. It is slightly cheaper because of a lack of the voice warnings which I can't hear on my LDR777 anyway.
