| i_culookn's Full Review: 1717 Digital Answering Machine |
As long as I can remember all of my personal answering machines that I have had have all been from the AT&T product line. I have had some good answering machines and some ones that I really hated.
My current answering machine is the AT&T Tapeless Digital Answering System with Time/Day Stamp model number 1717. This actually is my second one of this particular model number.
My first answering machine of this model number went totally psycho after having lived only 6 short months in my townhouse. One night it decided to erase all the saved messages that were on it. The psycho machine then decided to start turning itself off whenever it felt like it. This was when I decided it was time to send it to its grave and exchange it for a new one.
The second answering machine of this model seems to be well mannered unlike the previous one. I have had this answering machine for almost 8 months.
What features are on the AT&T 1717?
•Adjustment up and down volume buttons
•System on/off button
•Clock set button
•Delete messages button
•Announcement/Skip button
•Play/Stop messages button
•Memo/Repeat button
•Display window for number of messages or error messages
•Remote access code setup
What do I like about my AT&T answering machine?
I love that the answering machine is super easy to work. You don’t have to get out your owner’s manual every time you want to record a new outgoing announcement. It is super easy to reset the clock when the power has gone out. When the clock needs reset the display window will flash the letter C for clock setting.
This answering machine can save up to 12 minutes or messages or a total of 59 messages. When the memory is full though you will have to delete some messages before it will accept any new messages. When you are reached this point the display window will flash the letter F for full.
My favorite feature is the ease of using the remote access to call home and check your messages. You can easily change your access code when you feel the need to. You can also monitor a room in your house when you are using the remote access if you choose.
What do I not like about my answering machine?
•Sometimes the messages can sound muffled and it is hard to understand them.
•It can be hard to get your announcement to sound perfect because the microphone is not the best on the market.
•I do not like the ugly blue button that functions as the play/stop button.
•I do not like the fact that the other buttons are the same off white color as the answering machine itself.
Is the answering machine easy to set up?
I found that the AT&T answering machine is super easy to set up. The machine comes with all necessary parts to hook it up. This process took maybe one minute to complete when all the parts were out of the box.
Does this answering machine have a warranty?
The answering machine can be replaced within one-year from the retailer provided you keep your receipt. After the one-year is up you must then call 1-800-722-9125 for assistance with your machine.
What are my overall feelings on the AT&T Tapeless Digital Answering System with Time/Day Stamp model number 1717?
As you could already tell they are mixed. Honestly I am really neutral on this machine. The first machine would have received 0 out of 5 stars for its psychotic behavior. The present machine that I own receives 3 out of 5 stars. Only because of the flaws with the design and the horrible microphone the system has.
Do I highly recommend this answering machine to you?
I think you would be better off shopping around and seeing what else is on the market.
Who would this make a great gift for?
•Teenagers
•College Students
•Individuals that are moving into a new house or apartment
~Thanks for reading and have a great day~
