Crystal clear sound ... AT&T 1725 answering machine
Written: Nov 28 '00 (Updated Jun 01 '01)
Pros:clarity, recording length
Cons:can't think of any
The Bottom Line: A sure bet in answering machines.
When our less than one-year-old Sony answering machine gave out on us (see review dated November 28) we decided we would look to Consumer Reports for a replacement; the AT&T 1725 was highly rated & for good reason:
-If you are looking for an answering machine with which you can actually understand your incoming messages this is the machine for you. This is the clearest machine I have heard.
-There are 4 mailboxes so you won't necessarily have to pour through everyone else's messages. If a caller leaves a message in the wrong box there is a feature whereby you can move that message to another user's box.
-Outgoing messages are not followed by the annoying, obnoxious "music" or constant beeping that I sometimes hear on other machines.
-Total tape length is longer than other answering machines so more messages can be recorded. Most of the time we won't need 24 minutes of tape time but when we go away for a week or so it will be beneficial.
-The date & time feature is helpful.
-The machine can be accessed remotely so you can listen to messages away from home/office.
This answering machine has more features than listed here & has more features than our family will ever use but the most valuable, in my opinion, are above. I know this isn't the cheapest answering machine available but I think it's the best for the money. You get what you pay for!
*NOTE: Where you see comments about "tape length" I really meant to say "recording time". "Thanks" to a reviewer who discovered this mistake.
