Operating a small business or professional office and trying to find the ideal phone system is quite a chore. Custom phone system providers tend to offer products that are either outdated or don't offer the option for mobility within an office setting.
While searching for 2-line office phones that offer the most features without resorting to a custom designed system, the Panasonic KX-TG2000B just seems to stand out among the competition. First, the phone offers caller I.D., conference, hold, call wait, redial and speaker phone options on the base unit. In addition, the built in voice mail system does offer the option of creating separate messages for each phone line or you can just keep the pre-recorded message already included. The voice mail is a rather complex setup with options out the wazoo so best advice is to read the manual and create your own voice mail setup from the format available to fit your own needs.
On the down side, the process of disconnecting all power to the base was performed three times in one week in order to "Reset" the base and handset because of obvious software conflicts or system crashes. Hey, we've all been through those types of scenarios with our PC's, so why should a phone be any different...
On the bright side, the KX-TG2000B and it's bigger brother 4-line KX-TG4000B really don't have much in the way of competition in the mass produced multi-line business phone market. The next step would be to purchase a custom designed system that may or may not offer additional features, reliability and functionality at a much higher price.
All in all, this Panasonic is a well built, compact business phone with mobile option and voice mail that considering all other offerings is a steal for the price.
