I bought this phone for a satellite office of our business and thought it would be just what I needed - good value, range, even a digital answering machine - AND it had a built in caller ID! It was sadly lacking, we soon found out. The caller ID, for starters, was hard to use. The small buttons were the way to access the stored info for the caller ID - cumbersome hard to use. But even worse was the answering machine. Unlike our previous tape-answering machine that we had had for over seven years, the answering machine on this unit only had capacity for a little more than 15 minutes worth of messages, assuming the person left a short, concise and quick message! People offen leave long messages at our business and when that happened, the capacity was down to five minutes - our old answering machine (microcassette) had a capacity of 60 minutes. Also, in playback, older messages can only be accessed by holding down that play button for a few seconds (new messages are played with one tap). This machine also has a 'slow down' feature for playing messages, in case that caller is talking too fast. A nice feature, but it often got accidently activated while trying to play messages. It was rather amusing at first, because the caller sounds drunk while talking. The speech is slurred and slow. But it was too esy to activate this feature. In short, we went back to our old phone and seperate machine, which has never given us any trouble. You just cant beat tape when it comes to answering machines, unless you want to spend a lot of money for a high end digital machine.
