Pros: Compact, stylish , nice LCD readout, fairly decent range, and most importantly...the $50 rebate!!!
Cons: If you don't have Caller ID service from telco, you lose some really cool features.
The Bottom Line: I'll be honest, if it were not for the $50 rebate program they have going until the end of Sept. 2001, I may have not bought this phone.

About this product and what I loved:
As far as the phone and answering machine goes, I have no problems with it.
This phone is very functional, aesthetically pleasing work of art and a real space saver. This phone is loaded with typical features: digital answering machine with 15 min capacity, time/date stamp, Caller ID capable, speakerphone, intercom and speakerphone on the handset.
I really like the all digital answering machine. This means no tapes, no cleaning or mechanisms to break. The styling is nice champagne color and of course, one can buy additional faceplates to change the color of the phone at anytime. These faceplates must be bought separately and do not come with the phone. The handset uses nickel metal hydride batteries which don't retain battery "memory" which is great because you won't have to worry about over charging the batteries. The handset has a battery level meter much like a cellular phone and will "beep" when it needs recharging. Also, like a cellular phone, you can punch in the # you want to dial before hitting the "talk" button. This eliminates any possibility of dialing a wrong number because the call won't connect until you hit talk key. You can retrieve your messages from the handset alone, without having to walk over to the base unit. The is very nice feature for lazy people!
Hate to hold the phone right next to your ear while on hold? Well the handset on this phone has a speaker that works like a speakerphone for the handset. Hit the speakerphone on the handset and wait for the hold music to go before putting the phone up to your ear. Very nice!!! I love that feature. Almost forgot, the 2.4 ghz gives you the longest range of any cordless phone and the sound quality good.
What I didn't like about this phone:
To take advantage of advanced features of this phone, you must pay around an extra $6/month for Caller ID services from the telco. Nice features like caller identification which changes the tone of ring and color of the display when certain friends/family (programmed into your special directory section) call you. In actuality, I like the feature but not having to shell out an additional $6/month to the phone company. The sound quality of the answering machine is a bit computerized, however, voices are distinguishable from one another.
I'll be honest, if it were not for the $50 rebate program they have going until the end of Sept. 2001, I may have not bought this phone. I feel it's a bid over priced ($249.99 retail) if it weren't for that $50.00 rebate. After all that I've said, if you want this get this phone, I recommend www.goodguys.com. Make sure you tell them to price match "www.crutchfield.com" price of $199.00+$9.95 ship/handling fee. Goodguys.com doesn't charge any sales tax or have shipping charges. From ordering to receiving the merchandise took about 1 week; not too shabby for someone who lives in CA)
Now, I recommend for someone who lives on the east coast to get it straight from www.Crutchfield.com, they were the lowest price (a reputable factory authorized dealer) for Panasonic. Well any more question, you can email me.
