Nice Basic Corded Telephone

Pros:Phone sounds good, and has speed-dial buttons--great for use with a calling card.
Cons:Phone lacks a light to indicate phone line is in use.
The Bottom Line: If you need a basic, quality, single line corded phone, particularly if you are using a calling card, this phone is an excellent choice.
I bought this phone as a replacement for an older Panasonic telephone that had developed a conversation-inhibiting hum, but that had a nice feature--speed dial buttons. Because long distance rates are high in our area, we use a calling card, and the phone lets us use one button to dial the LD provider, and a second button for the PIN number. This one-two combination enables us to place calls very quickly.
The phone looks good, the sound is good, and the number buttons are reasonably large and have a nice feel. The one-line display enables us to verify the accuracy of numbers that are programmed into the phone. The display shows the time, and once a call is underway, it shows the duration of the call.
One (slight) negative is that the phone does not show if the telephone line is in use, either by another phone or by a computer. On the plus side, the phone's batteries will probably last longer (the old phone had a prodigious appetite for batteries). Also, the phone does not have certain features that may be important to some users, especially Caller ID. Be sure to check Panasonic's web site to ensure that the phone has the features that you require.
