| surferdude7's Full Review: Siemens Gigaset 8825 2.4 GHz 2-Line Cordless Phone |
The Siemens 8825 Gigaset Cordless Telephone is a 2.4 GHz phone system with a built-in digital answering machine. This is a phone system that can grow with up to 8 cordless phones without having to add any additional phone lines. All you need is one phone line for the base unit and the additional cordless phones all work off that same phone line.
The Siemens 8825 system is a two-line phone, this means you can use it with two different phone lines. It has a built-in digital answering machine that will record for 45 minutes and gives you four message mailboxes. The four message mailboxes is a great way to direct messages to the individual you want and you won’t have to listen to all the messages just to find out none are for you. The base unit has an illuminated LCD, keypad and speakerphone. The unit has a corded handset on it and comes with one Cordless 8800 phone and charging base unit. The Siemens 8825 Gigaset lists for $349 but it can be found for under $299, additional 8800 phones list for $129 but most places have it for $99 or less.

Security
You can use a PIN (Personal Identification Number) number to protect the whole phone system. The PIN number can be used to control the base unit or any cordless 8800 phone.
Each cordless 8800 handset and the keypad can be locked so it cannot be used but, it will still let incoming calls in and you can still dial 911 for an emergency.
You can block it from dialing three phone numbers, other settings are available to let or stop third parties from joining in on a call.
Digital Answering System
The answering system works with two different phone lines with four message mailboxes. There is an LCD display that shows you which mailboxes have messages, plus any new messages. Each of the four mailboxes can use a different recorded message. Messages can be retrieved from the 8825 base unit or any of the 8800 cordless handsets. With your PIN number you can access your messages from any touch-tone phone.
In addition to recording your own messages you can set it up to give a message and leave no messages for you.
You can direct which phone line goes to which mailbox.
Digitally store up to 45 minutes of recording time with features like Blocked ID for anonymous callers and callers with blocked Caller ID information.
If you have a messaging service there is a Mail Key that will light up when you get a message from them.
The Base Unit
The base unit requires a phone connection and you can connect two different phone lines in it for the use of the base unit and the cordless handsets. The bottom color of the base unit is black with the top being gray in color with black buttons and some illuminated buttons. It measures approximately 9.975 inches wide, by 7 inches in length by, 3 inches thick.
The LCD display is a backlit display with two lines to read from. The display shows time & date, incoming calls and to what mailbox they went to, the name and phone number of who is calling and more.
Plus the base unit has the built-in answering system and the corded handset.

The Siemens 8825 Kit
Here is what is included in the Siemens 8825 Gigaset Cordless Telephone.
The Base Unit
One Cordless Handset with Charger Base Unit
An AC adapter for the Base Unit and one for the Charger Base Unit
Manual, Quick Start Guide and Registration card.
The Pros of the System
This is a nice system to add to your home. The big advantage is having to plug in only one phone line and using the corded phone plus up to 8 cordless handsets from the one phone line connection.
Another big plus on a multiply phone system like this is having all the cordless phones identical, this makes using each phone easy since they are all the same.
Clarity of the 2.4 GHz phone system is excellent even at several hundred feet away from the base unit. Once you get use to the phone and answering system it is really easy to operate and use.
The base unit and the handsets are very attractive in appearance.
The Cons of the system
The main cons for the system is the initial cost of the Siemens 8825 Gigaset Cordless Telephone costing around $300 and the additional handset add-ons costing around $100 each. This will bring a full cost of 7 extra 8800 phones (If you need that many) at $100 times 7, equaling $700 plus the $300 for the 8825 for a total of around $1000.
Overall
Nice phone system with the easiest possible installation that you can get. The 8825 base unit plugs into one or two different phone lines and an AC outlet, each cordless handset phone only requires an AC outlet for the charging base.
There are many other brands that also offer a system similar at a slightly lower price but they usually limit the extra cordless handsets to 3 or 4 and they don’t have all of the security features that this system has built into it.
Remember you don’t have to buy all of the added handsets at once, you can always add one when needed to give you a full 2.4 GHz phone system with quality and clarity!
