| navin2000's Full Review: Panasonic KX TC1450 900 MHz 1-Line Cordless Phone |
I am writing this opinion after about a year and half since I brought this phone. I was overcome with the good feelings that I have for this model that I felt like sharing my opinions about this phone. I have the phone in white color versus the picture here in black.
I brought this phone at Office Depot back then for just $ 55 as that was an introductory price. I have used it since then and have been absolutely pleased with all it's features. I especially like and use a lot the "Remote Speaker Phone" feature. With this feature, you can remotely turn on the speakerphone on the base unit, before you make a call or even when you are in a call. I use it all the time before making calls to any utility companies or customer support numbers as it is easier to press the numbers to navigate thru the menu's at these customer support phone numbers when you don't have to constantly remove the phone from the ear..press a button...hear the next option. With remote speaker phone you can hear on the base unit and press the options from the remote unit.
Among other features I find the lighted keypad to be very usefull when receiving calls during night. The keypad light's itself when you receive a call and that helps when you have to pickup the phone when you get a call in the midnight. The keypad lights up when you have to make calls too. The cordless unit also has a jack to connect a headphone, nice for long conversations or to talk while doing something else. The battery of the cordless has also lasted very well so far. I am not quite sure what it's life is.
When looking around for the phone, I liked the panasonic one's over Sony because of the good looking plastic that they use to make the phone's. Sony phones come mostly in grey colors and the plastic looks very cheap.
The only problem I have seen after a year and half of use is that the speaker on the base using gives distorted sound, compared to the good sound it used to give when I first brought it.
And one feature that I wished they had added was a display atleast on the remote/cordless unit to see the numbers you have stored. Both the remote and the base can be used to store numbers, but without a display it is hard to remember what you have stored in them. I get around this by making a note of the numbers that I have stored and putting it on a post-it-note near my telephone jack.
I make lot of international calls, so I have my calling card access number, pin and the number I call in the memory. By just pressing 6 keys, I am able to enter around 30 numbers !!
