This phone is great, and the contrast to my previous cordless magnifies my appreciation even further. The reception on my previous 10-channel phone was so terrible that I was basically tethered to a 10" radius from the base unit (and even then there were scratching noises); any further, not to mention turning around corners or going into other rooms, and the noise and static became so great that conversations would halt while I ran back to the base in my room.
No more, with this sleek and relatively compact Panasonic. Some really awesome features include:
* GREAT reception over a big range.
* Nice form factor on the handset-- it's comfortable to hold and press against the ear for long conversations.
* Dual key-pad feature is great. While being walked through voice menus or checking voicemail, you don't need to juggle the handset between your ear and pressing the keys... as long as you're near the base unit, the phone-to-ear experience goes uninterrupted.
* Speaker-phone. What convenience to check voicemail with only a touch to the speaker-phone button-- no need to pick up the handset, listen for a broken dial tone, etc. Plus, with the dual key-pad feature, if you do have messages, you can listen to them without ever having to pick the phone up. Of course, there's also the given of having conversations while cleaning one's room or other similar task.
* Lighted key-pad.
* Intercom and dual-paging.
* Long battery life-- the battery is fully charged from zero in 4 hours, and a charged battery can last a week or two without recharging, depending on use.
I would change very little about this phone. If I were to change something, though, it would have to do with the ringer: I live in an apartment with a roommate, where each of us has our own phone line. Because this phone is so great, she got one too. Unfortunately, the rings sound the same and can get very confusing. You can adjust the volume of the ring, but not the nature or pattern of it.
Also, I think the footprint of the base unit could be a little smaller, if only to save some desk space. It's in no way unreasonable for a dual key-pad phone, though. Just picky stuff.
