I asked for this phone for Christmas last year, and it's been one of the best gifts I have ever received. In contrast with my previous phone, this Panasonic is much more reliable, convenient, and clear. So, what are my favorite things about this phone?
+ The dual key-pad makes it easy to dial out and go through menus. The base-set pad is also useful for those few hours when the phone is charging. Of course, it's also convenient when there's that message on the answering machine right there and who knows where you put the handset.
+ The phone's long battery life and fast charging are a real plus. My previous portable had to have it's battery changed every other day; this Panasonic easily goes for a week at a time with heavy use. To top that, it only takes 4 hours to recharge the battery fully.
+ Lighted keys make dialing at night much easier. As an added convenience, simply touching any key lights the pad, so you don't have to fumble to find an ON switch.
+ The locator/intercom makes it easy to find that handset that got buried somewhere. Unlike some other phones, the dual-paging makes life a little easier since either side can initiate.
+ Good reception means you can wander while you talk. I live in an apartment building, and it's so convenient to walk up to check the mail while on the phone. I have found that I don't get as good reception when I go places where there is a lot of electrical activity (near the circuit breakers or in the laundry), but I guess that's to be expected.
+ The ruggedness of the phone is to be commended. I had read a review after ordering that commented that the person's phone had broken. I haven't had any such experience; my phone has been dropped numerous times, from as high as 3 feet (1 m), and it's still working as well as the day I took it out of the box.
+ The phone is headset-ready, although the headset does not come with the phone.
I would change very little about this phone. My biggest complaint is that it does not fit my shoulder/face very well; some of my friends are getting tired of hearing beeps when I move my shoulder. I will probably invest in a headset for the phone at some point in the near future for this reason.
Overall, I am very pleased that I got rid of my old phone and got this one. It has convinced me that I can get excellent reception and flexibility from phone that does not have a significant down-time (recharging or breaking). My sister was so impressed that my brother-in-law got one as well.
