I bought this phone for my husband for his birthday. We needed another cordless phone really badly. Our old one(bought around 1994) was doing poorly.
We have had this phone since April 17, 2000. So far we love it.
The calls are crystal clear no matter where I call, even international.
My mom tells me that it sounds like I am right next door now instead of 2000 miles away like I really am.
This phone also has a caller ID option. I decided to get the caller ID since we would have a phone that could use it. You have to sign up for this service with your local phone company. I love it and I don't know how I ever got along without it. I no longer pick up the phone on every ring. If a number shows I am not familiar with, I wait for the answering machine to pick it up. Same for when no number is shown.
I also was able to use the caller ID option to track a prank caller.
It was coming from a local woman's shelter here in town. The management at the shelter did not even know this resident was placing prank calls.
This phone saved me a ton of aggravation in having to make calls to my phone company so they could try and track down who was prank calling me.
I also really love the dual keypad and the handset finder alarm. If I can't find the handset I can use the keypad on the base and the speakerphone option and still talk. I could also had a headset in for this purpose too as it has a headset jack. If I really would rather find the handset then I can use the alarm. It will make the handset beep until I find it and disable the alarm.
It also has simultaneous dialing so you can dial from both the base and the handset at the same time. Umm, my question is though why would you want to? I still have not figured out the usefulness of this with this particular phone.
You can set up to 15 speed dial numbers. So far I have only needed to use seven of them. I do like though that I have extras. Never know when I might need them. I only put in my close friends, family, and emergency numbers so far. One drawback though is there is no where to write it down so you can remember what spot has which phone number. I had a phone that had something like this on it and it was very handy.
This phone can be wall mounted or lay on a countertop. I have mine on a countertop. I also like that I can talk for a long time in between charges. The phone charges quickly, as in overnight while no one would be calling me. I keep it with me all day wherever I am in the house and charge it at night. I have not had any problems keeping it working doing it this way. If I keep it off for two days though I get the warning battery low beep. LOL.
The most annoying thing is that I cannot seem to get the ringer volume to stay at a decent, less-than-ear-shattering, level. It really drives me crazy. Maybe it is just me or the phone possibly but I looked in the manual and was doing it right. Yet every time it would ring again after I set it lower, it was as high as before. This is very very frustrating.
Everything with this phone has been easy to use and understand with the exception of the volume of the ringer. Setting up the speed dial was very easy and this from someone who has a hard time programming her VCR. LOL.
I also like the way it looks. I love black and the shape is very sleek.
I had never bought a Panasonic phone until now and I think I am sold.
This phone is great overall and I foresee purchasing another Panasonic phone in the future whether as a replacement for me, an extra phone or a present for someone.
