| Cbulls1989's Full Review: Panasonic KX TC1700 900 MHz 1-Line Cordless Phone |
When my Sony cordless phone decided to stop working I went to the store in search of a new cordless phone. I knew that I wanted a 900MHz phone and a must have feature was that it have caller ID on the handset. I was tired of racing to the caller ID box to see if I wanted to answer the phone. (Sometimes you are just not in the mood to chat with someone that calls just to complain). I did not have a specific brand in mind so I was open to suggestions.
I was standing in the aisle of Target (probably looking quite lost) staring at all of the cordless phones that I had to choose from. I was reading box after box and not really seeing the difference between many of them (other than the price of course). Then I stumbled upon the Panasonic, it had a feature that I had not thought of before. Call Waiting Caller ID, I thought to myself this could really be useful, I hate clicking over just to find a salesperson on the other line. Now I know many people would think, well then don't click over. You see, I have children that are in school all day and I would hate to not answer and it be the nurse telling me my kids are sick or something.
I then looked at a few other phones with the Call Waiting Caller ID feature and made my choice. Why did I pick the Panasonic? Well, it seemed to me to be the most for my money.
*900MHz
*Caller ID
*Call Waiting ID
*Voice Mail Light
*Speed Dialing for 10 phone numbers
*8 hours of talk time
*Handset Locator (a must have for those of us with small children)
I got the phone home and charged it up like you are supposed to. I could not wait to receive my first phone call on it (yes I know it does not take much to thrill me). Well after I started using this phone I found out a few things about it that I really like. You can hold 50 names/numbers on the caller ID and if you scroll through to that phone number and turn on your phone it will automatically dial it for you. I like knowing at a glance if I have any voice mail messages, I love the Caller ID and the Call Waiting ID. I think it is great that I am no longer picking up my neighbors conversations on my phone also!
Now for the thing that I do not like. If you are holding this phone with your shoulder you are likely to hit the call wait button and there is a delay before you can click back over to your conversation. When a call comes in there is a delay in your conversation while the Caller ID is processing, but these are things that I can live with since they are pretty minor points.
I would recommend this phone to anyone looking for the above features. The inconvienence is minor in the delay and you can get used to holding the phone a certain way so that you do not push the call waiting button inadvertently.
