| William's Full Review: Panasonic KX TC1710 900 MHz - Cordless Phone |
There is a short list of cordless phones that you should consider buying: Panasonic, Uniden, and Sanyo. The the best of the best have always been Panasonic. The 1710 represents Panasonic brilliantly. Its full-duplex speakerphone is what a speakerphone should be...clear! No two-cans-and-string here. You can actually carry on a conversation with a friend without them having to say, "Get me off speaker now or I will hang up!" Programming numbers into the phone is a snap...just press "Program" and follow the instruction on the beautifully large/sharp green backlit screen on the back of the phone. Intuitive is the keyword here. If VCR's were this easy to program, I'd never hear from the elderly members of my family again. All the number keys are cooly backlit. The Intercom/Find Phone button is loud (a must for all of us Oscar Madison's), and the Call Waiting/Caller ID is seamless. What a phone! Now to my compaints...NONE! This phone is perfect. If you wanted to build the opposite of this phone, you would have to call it SONY (the Anti-Christ of all things cordless). Remember, Panasonic owns this category. The only other cordless that I would even consider is Sanyo's Cordless line with the speakerphone in the handset (great, but a real battery hog). But except for that feature, Panasonic is the hands-down winner. I don't see how Panasonic sells such a perfect instrument for such a small price. And they don't even have to hire the Nike/Wal-Mart infants to keep their costs down.
