| Valpal's Full Review: Panasonic KX TC1800 900 MHz - Cordless Phone |
We decided to buy a simple and somewhat inexpensive cordless phone. After reviewing the various brands we decided on the Panasonic KC-TX1800B aka Soundcharger plus.
The hardcore facts about this phone is that it runs about $70. It has speed dialing, memory, locator and operates about 900 Mhz.
What does all this really mean . It means if you are in the market for a cordless phone you need to only think about a few things. For example, how much will you pay. Conventional wisdom is right here, the more you pay the better phone you get. What is the Mhz number? The higher number refers to the higher quality or output of the phone. There probably isn't much difference between a 900 Mhz and a 1200 Mhz, but there is between a 500 and a 900. What about the other items on a phone box - such as Long Range technology? I don't know what that is. I do know that this phone when compared to othes in its price class and features tends to finish ahead. My own experience with this phone is that it is light weight, good to listen or talk on and compact.
My favorite feature is the locator. What a good idea this one is. If you can't find the phone i.e. Where did I leave it? Hmm you can hit the locator and there is a whole lot of beeping going on. The reciever beeps and you can find it. This phone also has intercom capabilities. Pretty good for an upstairs downstairs situation.
The sound quality is good also. Crisp and sharp. Not much static unless you get outside a bit away from the charger pad.
Battery life is pretty good. The battery lasts about 2 years. The replacement fee is about $10. The battery charges pretty fast too. 15 minutes, perhaps a half hour.
All in all, a good phone.
