maybe this phone wasn't meant to last

Pros: great looking phone, a lot of features for the money, decent battery life
Cons: after a year phone is just about dead.
The Bottom Line: i thought i made a good choice in the begining, but i am sorry now. i am very disapointed with this phone.

when i first bought the phone, i loved it. it had a lot of nice features for the money. the sound clarity was great, and i could be down the block and it would still sound as if i were near the base. well, i have had this phone for about 14 months and it is on it's way out. the problem i am have with this phone is it's ability to stay on a clear signal with the base. it's sounds and acts like i have a 19.99 old 25 channel cordless phone. i can be 8 ft away from the base and it cut's out and or gets very staticy, and i find myself hitting the channel button all the time just to have a clear conversation. the base has been in the same location it was when i first used the phone, away from electronic devises so they are no interfearance problems. but when this problem started i first thought it was the battery so i bought a new one. same thing, so i moved the base in another spot, still no change. one other thing that is happining is when i press a number key, i find i have to hit the same number again or a few times cause it doesn't beep or register when dialing a number. before this phone i had a uniden which i believe was 100 times better than this phone, but it didn't have an answering machine. i wish i didn't give the uniden away. well i just ordered a siemens 2.4 ghz w/ answering machine, and as soon as it arrives, i won't be sorry when i give this panasonic to feed to the dumpster thats for sure!! the other thing i hated since i got the phone is the caller id is on the back of the phone, if your talking to someone it takes longer to turn the phone around to see who is calling, i wish they put it on the front, you can get back to your conversation quicker if you were able to just glance down to see the display.
