| Irish's Full Review: Moonlight Safari w/ Illuminator |
I purchased my Moonlight night vision device for $200.00 one year ago.
Upon making my purchase knowing the price was real cheap, I didn't expect too much out of my new device.
When I used the device during the year of 1999, I found that it performed reliably doing what it said it would do. The unit is equipped with a self charging battery system that the user generates themselves.
I figured that this would be a definate plus since I would never have to purchase batteries to keep the unit charged. The illuminator (infra red) did however require one watch type battery.
The night vision worked pretty good considering it was just that, night vision and not a magnification device as well. During the whole year that it was used the device was never exposed to the elements or banged around.
Upon making purchase of it, I also purchased a small hard plastic handgun type case to put it in. So basically, I still have a new unit that has never been subjected to harsh elemets or abuse.
It is ironic that I sit here typing this as tonight I had need of my little " scope " and retrieved it from my foot locker (still encased).
After five months of inactivity, my " scope " is dead.
The illuminator still works great (same battery & new battery), but the self generating battery has (pardon my french) crapped out.
Before one click of the generating battery would activate it for minutes.
Now with one application, it only lasts milli-seconds. I have not yet contacted the company to see what can be done,as I have just now finished my piece about this little product that left me in the dark.
