| BlackBear's Full Review: Bushnell Deep Space 78-9512 (420 x 60mm) Telescope |
I got the Bushnell Telescope 420X about a two years ago for free in a promotional effort, and I have been very pleased with it. I like to take it up to Mount Bonell to look at the moon and other major heavenly bodies.
This set comes complete with a tripod, a barlow that boosts the power by 3X, an extracting lens for viewing land based objects, two different lenses and a body mounted spotter scope to align the device with.
The tripod is made of wood and the extending legs allow you to set up the scope on uneven surfaces. There is a triangular base built into the tripod that doubles as a stabilizer for the stand and a holder for the various lenses and tools that come with the telescope with room for additional items that can be purchased for use with the scope.
The two lenses that came with the scope allow for both land and deep space viewing, one for each style of spotting. The scope itself is easy to assemble and will break down for easy storage when not in use. The entire set up can be placed into a corner area of the closet of even under the bed.
This is a wonderful item for any beginner, and the entire system has been developed to allow easy expansion into such things as taking pictures or the sky or even looking at things like the space shuttle on its missions when in a good orbit for your area. An extremely good tool for all educational purposes, this is a great toy for both young and old.
