Mac OS X 10.2 users beware (Reply to this comment)
by gstriph
The review is quite accurate for the time it was written. I would add the following: (1) In addition to the delay of 1-2 seconds between pictures, there is a delay from pressing the shutter release to the actual taking of the picture that is quite noticeable when photographing sports for example. (2) With the plus microdrive version, battery life is very short -- one may be able to store 247 pictures but I was only able to take fewer than 100 with a new fully charged set of batteries (much fewer with flash and frequent playback. (3) Mac OS X supports this camera through 10.1 only; without warning, 10.2 stopped recognizing the microdrive and neither Apple nor Casio has any plans to fix this. You can work around by buying a CF reader at Radioshack and placing the microdrive in it or by rebooting the mac into System 9 and leaving the photos in the Desktop 9 folder then rebooting the computer -- hardly plug and play! On the other hand, Windows XP recognizes the camera without difficulty.

Did you know that Casio made the first all- digital camera that was sold commercially? (I know, because I bought one, in 1993(?) for the astounding price of 300 dollars at Wallmart. ) Much has changed. But unofficially, they really were the pioneer company for point and shoot digital cameras. You probably could have gone many years without needing to know that. I always covert the electronics I read about in your reviews. Don't tell anyone. They might think I was a consumer! Jude

Hi Shelly!
I think Casio is trying to be in the price of a Nikon, what a joke on the price.
Yes, I also love my Olympus C-3000!
Thanks for the comment,
Ron

Nice review! (Reply to this comment)

It shocks me a bit to see that in comparing the pics from this Casio, my little C-3000 from Olympus looks better. Hey...for over $350 less, too!
Thanks for the vote of confidence (and the nice opinion).
Shelly.
