net.photo's Full Review: Konica Minolta Z-up 120 VP 35mm Film Camera
I have been involved in photography for nearly 32 of my 39 years . I have owned everything from subminiatures to 4"x5" large format. But like everyone else sometimes want a smaller, dependable and simple camera especially on vacation ( where you might ask a perfect stranger to take your picture!).
After owning a Pentax Espio and a APS Nikon Nuvis ( very disapointing enlargments from its smaller negative) I bought this Wonderful camera for it's styling !?!?
Well, I have never been so happy, Yes it is a little larger than some competitors but the results have blowned me away. At my daughter's birthday at a local restaurant I took a picture of my 2 daughters that came so beautifully that I had to enlarge it to an 8x10. I have it in my office and I continuously get comments and am ask if it was done in a studio! perfect exposure, focus, saturation and no red eyes.
The camera is loaded with great features -38-120 zoom, auto everything, data back ( why do you use this anyway? it spoils youre enlargments!!)
This is the best point and shoot I have ever used, the fact that it also looks so good is not a minus either.
And a final statement on panorama cameras: do not be fooled by this gimicky feature, it does not give you a wider angle of view- it only cuts the top and bottom of your pictures. If you get an APS camera and use it in panorama mode, you will be left with a grainy picture that is embarassing to show. Instead get a great little 35mm take your picture and if you like the panorama shot have the shots you like enlarged as an 5x7 or 8x12 and trim the top and bottom. You will have much better resolution end enjoy smaller cost of film and processing.
The added bulk is a very little sacrifice to better picture and souvenirs.
