More personal use details (Reply to this comment)
by gbraun
I too am looking for more anecdotal experience about how the 7 helped or hindered:
accuracy of metering
scene exposure readings
autofocus speed (esp. w the lenses you own)
the feel to you (how big are your hands?)
what looks durable/cheap
ease of on the fly switching in time constrained situation
etc.

I think I may (Reply to this comment)

have the original Minolta and it is at least 15 years old and still going strong. It has had a few problems. Sticking sometimes and sometimes I have to bang it to get it to work LOL..but I love it. I would love to get a new one, but I guess it would be a digital. I don't know...but I know your review is excellent. thanks. jo

The review is well written and filled with technical information (Reply to this comment)
by HOWLer
but it is obviously a rewritten photo magazine review since you don't mention any actual use or experience with the camera. Like sweeper said, "a camera is still something very personal and its feel, balance, ergonomics, and placement and access of controls are very important especially to the advanced user." You list features but don't explain how they will help photographers improve their pictures. Much of your review is Cheerleading for Minolta and misleads SLR shoppers since your claims of Minolta's superiority without any specific examples of how Minolta does a better job than their competitors is worthless for comparison purposes between this camera and similar models from Pentax, Canon, and Nikon.

Good job (Reply to this comment)
by sweeper, in Electronics
You covered the technical aspects well. However, I remained baffled at some features that you mentioned but did not fully explain. It is sometimes confusing to name a brand trademarked function name without explaining its workings. Also was looking for how the camera handles and performs in the field. While full of technology, a camera is still something very personal and its feel, balance, ergonomics, and placement and access of controls are very important especially to the advanced user.
Keep up the good work and keep shooting.

Expensive Cameras (Reply to this comment)
by Chalathra
I think cameras are so expensive! I won the one I have, but my hubby paid almost $700.00 for his...Of course, his is now sitting collecting dust somewhere, while mine is used almost on a daily basis.
I am glad you found a good camera, but it is expensive. LoL... Great review! (=
Happy Epinioning!
