Together with Delta 3200 this is the fastest film on the market. Consequently it has prominent grain, but this is workable and for some purposes it looks good. I use it to photograph rock and jazz concerts, and there the grain often adds to the mood of the scene.
T-max is not considered easy film to work with; it needs a lot of care when processing or results will vary. It is about twice as sensitive as traditional films to changes in the development process such as development times, dilution, temperature etc. This said, and having reasonable experience with traditional films, after a little testing I found I could get reliable and repeatable results.
I found the film speed in t-max developer around ISO 1250 effectively. The film pushes well, and when pushed to 3200 I lost only about 1/3 of a stop in shadow detail, and 1/3 in highlight detail. This means it has excelent qualities for pushing. Recommended for low light situations or when coarse grain is required.
