| artiste's Full Review: Canon Elura 2 Mini DV Camcorder |
This camcorder is one of the smallest MiniDV s on the market. It's small size is packed with features. It has an 8MB Multimedia Card with 8MB on it. It can store still photos. It has a progressive scan mode and an analog A/V input. The price for this camera is quite high at $1,799. This is allot of money to spend for a 2MC one chip camcorder. Also it is meant for tiny hands. It is too hard to handle for larger hands.
The size is so small that you can place the camera in your pocket. It only weighs 1.1 pounds. Because of the size, some features and controls are too small. I found it hard to use the zoom and focus the camera manually. For example, the manual focus and select dial are at the back of the camcorder. This is inconvenient for handheld shooting.
MC stands for Mutlimedia card which is used to store still shots. This enables users to create low resolution digital photos. However no cable is included for transferring still shots to a PC. The still shots come out just okay but the video feature on the camcorder is very good. The horizontal resolution has 400 lines even when image stabilization is not on. This is the case with Canon's high end one chip camcorders. Colors are pleasing to look at. It is sharp and accurate. Colors are vibrant in interlaced and progressive scan modes.
I like the Canon Elura 2 MC. It is quite compact. It has an elegant design packed into a very small size. It is expensive though at $1,799. The original Elura is a little bigger but it doesn't have the still photo memory card. It is also a good camcorder.
