| binas_daddy's Full Review: Canon Elura 2 Mini DV Camcorder |
Best features are compact size, the ability to use either manual or automatic functions, firewire connectivity to computer and ability of Adobe Premiere to control the camera remotely, miniDV format tapes, and decent battery life.
You will carry this camera and use it more often than previous cameras you've owned. Filmed subjects are less put off by unobtrusive size and therefore behave more naturally.
Only additions I've made were additional batteries so I can travel without the charger, replacing the standard lens with a semi-wide angle one (JVC DVM-700 0.7x) in order to get better coverage indoors where I'm closer to the subjects, and adding an external microphone (DSM from SonicStudios) for filming in large rooms so that I can aim towards the sound to get better volume, better spacials and less echo. Sadly, you have to mount the camera on it's included adapter shoe in order to use the external mics.
One good feature not mentioned on most web citations.... you can use the camera to convert analog video to digital and vice versa without having the camera in record mode.
