Pros: Extra large battery, excellent image stabilizer, DV recording, audio input, 8 MB still image card.
Cons: Picture quality.
The Bottom Line: Around $700-$800, JVC GR-DVL805U is better, I would buy a Sony TRV900 if money is not an issue.

| nabils's Full Review: Panasonic PV-DV800 Mini DV Camcorder |
I had a JVC GR-DVL805U, I used to complain about the motor noise and no microphone input, the battery life and how fragile this camera is, and then I decided to go to a better camera, Panasonic PV-DV800, I sold my JVC and bought this camera, the camera is nice, more intuitive than the JVC feels more professional it has more input. It has infra-red filter that makes you take photos in complete darkness, but the normal quality of the recording is way below my old JVC camera. I am shocked. What good are all these features if the video quality is not good! When I play my old DV tapes on the Panasonic, they look awesome on the 3.5 inch screen. When I play the DV tapes recorded by the Panasonic the quality is just not the same. The color saturation is not even close to the JVC, considerably darker movies and there is nothing I can do about it, I tried every combination. Video clarity and quality still not as good as my old JVC. This camera is good in everything except for the main functionality of taking good movies. For this price if you want superior video, better look somewhere else like JVC, SONY or you can spend a little more and get the new Panasonic PV-DV851or PV-DV901 with the Mega pixel CCD, and that would capture excellent videos.
