With the birth of my first child rapidly approaching, I decided we needed a camcorder. What originally sold me on the PV-L750 was the added bonus of a digital camera, but this camcorder has so much else to recommend it!
This camcorder makes great movies! We filmed the birth and it came out wonderfully. The zoom is incomparable and the backlighting superb. The finished movies almost look professional if you use a tripod and know what you're doing.
I absolutely love the digital effects. You get about a thousand different kinds of fade, picture wiping, digital color filters, and more. Try the sepia color filter for a really cool old-time effect!
My husband and I were literally filming right out of the box. If there's a way to make this camcorder any easier to use, I'd like to know it. The commands are simple to follow and are so well displayed on the incredible HUGE LCD screen. One warning--the LCD eats a lot more battery power than the LVF, but who cares--it's so fun to use!
The remote is great and it sure comes in handy. I use it all the time to film me and my husband playing with the baby. My only wish is that it had more functions on it--you can't use the digital effects with the remote.
And now for the reason I bought this camcorder--the digital camera. What a HUGE disappointment! The resolution is only 640x480, which is adequate for viewing on the computer and sending e-mails. Don't bother to print your images, however--they'll come out grainy even in the fine mode. The software for the digital camera is ridiculously easy to use--it's just a shame that the pictures you use it for are worthless. This is a great camcorder, but Panasonic needs to either get serious about the digital camera feature or drop it altogether. Do what I did--buy a Canon S-100 Elph for your digital pictures!
