| mjs_87's Full Review: Sony Handycam CCD-TR517 8mm Analog Camcorder |
This camcorder is great for anyone looking to dive into the business of home movies. The zoom is a nice speed, and the digital zoom is great for those faraway objects. My only problem is that this camcorder does not have image stabilization. If you're going to have digital zoom, you need image stabilization. Thats my only flaw with this camera. Other than that, its great. The Sound quality is clean and very crisp. Seven auto exposure modes help provide good picture no matter what. The picture effects are a nifty extra. Nightshot is perfect for recording in the dark, but a built-in light would help even more. The title tool is also a cool feature. The included battery lasts 160 minutes when fully charged. The playback is great, but a slow-motion button would be nice. Remote control operation would also be useful. All in all, its a good buy for a starter.
