| Super_Jerome's Full Review: JVC XV-523 DVD Player |
Recently I purchased the JVC XV-523GD DVD player and I have to admit I am mostly pleased. It took me a long time to buy a DVD player because I spent forever researching every player I came across. Finally I decided on the JVC XV-523GD DVD player because it's price was low enough, it seemed to have good enough picture quality, and I liked that it could play CD-Rs. For those of you who know little to nothing about DVD players and don't want to shell out several hundred dollars for a top of the line DVD player, this is a good fit. I have seen many families purchase this DVD player because it has all of the main features that you could want and it comes with easy controls. Personally I enjoy the handy toggle fast forward/rewind switch on the player and I feel it is one of its nicest features. Also, another one of the reasons that this player sells so well is that many teens and others who burn their own CDs can play them on this player, a feature that is actually very very rare in most DVD players. However, many people do not use CD-Rs or do not wish to play their CDs on their DVD player, so this feature matters a lot to some and very little to others. For me, the ability to play CD-Rs was the ultimate deciding factor in my purchase. The sound quality of this player is good, but for me it seems that it depends more on what kind of speakers you have rather than the DVD player's sound quality because almost all DVD players have excellent sound. Also, while I said earlier that its picture quality isn't the best in the world, it is still much better than any VCR I have ever seen and it still surpasses most DVD players I have seen. In addition, most people cannot tell the difference between the very best DVD players picture quality and the JVC XV-523GD DVD player's picture quality because the differences are so slight. So the bottom line with the JVC XV-523GD DVD player is you should buy it if you want a good DVD player without spending a ton of money and especially if you like the CD-R playing feature.
